The 39th GEP (Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines) Annual National Directorate Meeting & Convention was just held in Davao days ago. As usual, South representative participated in the event and made a speech.

The national convention, once again held in Davao City since 2009, lasted from May 31st to Jun 2nd. Nearly 1500 licensed geodetic engineers attended the show, in which most of the major local suppliers of survey equipment participated as well. Like before, South took part in it with the local exclusive distributor and displayed the latest products such as the new RTK receivers S82-2013, S86-2013, and new Total Station models NTS-362R8M, NTS-345R5. The highlight came from the waterproof testing, as the 2 new RTK models were kept in the water tank for long time but still remained in normal working conditions. Amazed by such revolutionary breakthrough in the workmanship, users updated their points of view towards the Chinese manufacturers.

Again, the South representative was invited to give a speech to the GEP participants to update what’s on in the global geomatics society. In continuation of the interesting story marketing topics, A Story of Compass (Beidou Navigation System, also short as BDS) was presented this time to the attendants as the further research in the GNSS world after A Story of GPS and A Story of RTK were successfully delivered in 2011 and 2012 respectively. As a frequent visitor to GEP activities from the supplier community, the South representative has gradually made himself a fixed solution for the GEP events and well known to most of the participants there, giving his 7th speech since 2007. From the impressive materials, the geodetic engineers were enabled to understand how Compass had been developed and how the multi-constellation would benefit the survey work. Apart from producing survey equipment only, South is now also known to them as a manufacturer of OEM mainboards tracking multi-constellation.

After the convention, the representative and local distributor were warmly received by A.G. Garvin Jr. Engineering Services, a loyal end user company based in Davao. Being the first of replacing total station with RTK system in the survey jobs, AG Survey even applied CORS for construction purposes, which has been marked as a pilot project in private sector. The boss, Engr. Alfredo Garvin, is a reputed professional in the community who’s always ready to accept new things trying the latest technologies towards overall competitiveness. “I’m looking forward to becoming the first one here again to use new South RTK models with BDS signals tracking to increase RTK work efficiency”, said Mr. Garvin.
