8th FIG REGIONAL CONFERENCE 2012 was held in Montevideo, Uruguay from Nov 26 to 28 at Radisson Hotel. The Conference is hosted by International Federation of Surveyors and the Uruguayan Surveyors Association with the theme of "Surveying towards Sustainable Development". More than 200 surveyors and professionals from about 20 countries participated in the Conference, most of them coming from Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and some Central American countries.

As one of the sponsors, SOUTH attended the Conference and exhibited the main products like RTK S82V, Total station NTS370R, NTS360R and Handheld GPS S750. Other sponsors are Leica, Trimble, ESRI...etc.

This is the first time SOUTH exhibiting in Uruguay, also the first time for the local surveyors to know about SOUTH. They expressed great interest towards our instruments especially NTS370R and S750. Many people came to our stand trying to operate the instruments, asking about functions, prices and if we have a local dealer, they are very happy to see a new option with affordable prices. A few of them showed their intention to cooperate with us. Participants from other countries were already very familiar with SOUTH, some of them used SOUTH instrument before and gave a high praise on its performance. The small souvenirs - SOUTH bags and mini total station key rings were also very popular, which ran out in very short time.

In recent years, SOUTH is becoming more and more active in Latin America with the set up of Latin American Office. Let's look forward to more presence of SOUTH in this market in the coming year.
